Othello is a board game for kids that is easy to learn and offers lasting depth. As the classic tagline says: A Minute to Learn... A Lifetime to Master.
My 9-year-old picked up the flipping strategy way faster than I did, and now she beats me almost every game. The board is small enough to play on a tray in the car, which has saved us on two long drives already.
I taught my 6-year-old the rules in about two minutes, and she beat me by the end of the week. The flip-the-discs mechanic is simple enough for kids but still makes you think a few moves ahead. We've played almost every night since it arrived.
My kids were hooked after one round, and honestly I was too. The flipping mechanic is dead simple to teach but the strategy keeps surprising me every game. Sitting down for a quick match after dinner has become our little routine.
