There’s a lot of excitement in the river: the fishermen and the fish are racing! Roll the die and move either the fish of the corresponding colour or the boat with the fishermen forward one square. If the fish reach the sea, they are saved! But be careful not to get caught by the fishermen. At the end of the game, if more fish are saved than caught, the fish team wins. Sometimes a crucial choice has to be made!

The die-rolling twist where you can move either the fish or the fishermen keeps everyone on edge, even the adults. My kids actually cheer when a fish sneaks past the boat. Played five rounds in a row the first night.

My 6-year-old figured out the color-matching rule on her own and now she beats me half the time. The whole game hinges on that one die roll deciding whether you push a fish or the boat forward, which keeps every turn tense right to the end.

My 6-year-old figured out the color-matching die rule in one round and now she beats me half the time. The little wooden fish and boats are chunky enough that my toddler can't swallow them, which was my main worry. We've played it every night this week.
